For Shopify Plus agencies with a requirement apps can't handle

Complex Shopify commerce logic. Built when apps aren't enough.

Payment rules, shipping logic, cart validation, B2B terms — configured in the platform, or built for you as native Shopify Functions when configuration alone won't cut it. Built once, reused across every client store you manage.

Need a checkout rule? We build it.

Built as native Shopify Functions, from €450, no scoping call — merchant or agency. Also: Scripts stopped running June 30, 2026. Rushed migrations often broke things silently — we find what's missing.

The problem

Still hand-writing a Shopify Function for every client's complex checkout rule?

Shopify Scripts shut down June 30, 2026. Every rule that doesn't fit a checkout app now has to be a custom Shopify Function — hand-written, hand-compiled, hand-maintained. Per store. Forever. That means:

More technical debt
More maintenance
More bugs in checkout
Slower client launches

Rulic lets agencies ship faster with reusable, configurable checkout infrastructure — built on native Shopify Functions.

Why existing solutions fail

Apps solve one store. Agencies need to solve twenty.

Checkout apps handle single-store rules well, and many are free. The real cost: rebuilding the same rule by hand for every client store, then again when requirements shift.

Checkout apps

$0–99/mo, one store at a time
  • Handles most single-store rules well
  • Many are free
  • Point-and-click UI
  • No cross-store config export
  • Rebuilt by hand for every client
  • No simulator or execution trace
  • Not built for agency workflows

Custom Rust Functions

$8k–20k+, weeks not days
  • Unlimited flexibility
  • ~30 hours of engineering per client
  • Unmaintainable once the developer leaves
  • Every change needs a developer
  • Nothing is reusable across clients
  • Testing means live test checkouts

# export and a simulator are things anyone can eventually ship. Harder to copy: we've already hit the constraints your rules will hit, on real audits and migrations.

# $8k–20k+ and ~30 hrs are typical industry estimates for a custom Function build, not a Rulic-specific figure — we're early and don't have public case studies to cite instead yet.

Why Rulic — interactive preview

Complex checkout logic, evaluated in milliseconds.

A live preview of how the rule simulator will evaluate checkout context once the platform ships. Change the settings below and watch the same logic we build during migrations re-evaluate in real time.

Built for agencies BUILDING

Built for Shopify Plus agencies.

Turning away checkout work because the dev team's maxed out?

This is built for agencies whose bottleneck is engineering hours, not client demand: net-terms rules, MOQ checks, per-market payment logic — built once, reused across every client, so requests stop piling up behind the same two developers. If you're not capacity-constrained, billing those hours directly probably makes more sense than paying us to save them.

179 hours freed up ≈ 4.5 work weeks of capacity for new client work

# based on ~30 hrs average engineering time per custom Function build, vs. ~30 min to configure the first store in Rulic and ~2 min to reuse it on each additional store

# this only pays off if you're capacity-constrained. If you invoice those hours directly, keep invoicing them.

Sandbox & stagingTest safely on development stores before touching production.
Fixed-scope engagementsEvery audit and migration is scoped and priced up front — no open-ended retainers to start.
JSON exportRules are portable artifacts, not vendor lock-in.
Multi-store deploy BUILDINGConfigure a rule once, push the same logic to every client store.
Migrated rules, exportedEvery rule we build during a migration ships back as portable Rulic config — not a black box only we understand.
Fast onboardingTemplates for wholesale, B2B, MOQ, freight, COD, and more.
How we work

Today: audit and migrate by hand. Next: self-serve.

01Audit or scopeA 48-hour audit or a migration scoping call — we tell you plainly what your checkout logic needs.
02RebuildWe rebuild the logic as native Shopify Functions, tested against realistic cart sizes.
03VerifyOld vs. new behavior compared side-by-side before anything touches production.
04DeployStaged first, then production — with documentation and an exported rule config.
05Reuse BUILDINGOnce the self-serve platform ships, that exported config deploys to your next store yourself, in minutes.
Pricing

Questions agencies ask us.

Why not just use Checkout Blocks (free)? +
For a single store, Checkout Blocks and similar free apps do a solid job — hide a payment method, show a banner, even chain a few conditions. Rulic isn't about rule complexity, it's about scale: build a net-terms rule once and deploy it to every client store you manage, with the config exported as portable JSON. If you only run one store and don't need to reuse the rule anywhere else, the free app is the right call.
Does it require writing Rust? BUILDING +
No — that's the point of the builder we're developing: you'll compose rules visually and Rulic will compile them into native Shopify Functions behind the scenes, with no Rust or WASM for you to write or maintain. Until it ships, we do that translation by hand as part of a Scripts migration.
Does it require Shopify Plus? +
No — the self-serve app runs on any Shopify plan, since Shopify Functions for payment, delivery, and checkout validation aren't Plus-exclusive. B2B features like company-account net terms do require Plus, because B2B on Shopify itself is a Plus-only capability. Our audit and migration services are for Shopify Plus stores specifically.
Can I export and reuse configurations? BUILDING +
That's the plan — every rule set will export as portable JSON you can clone to a development store, keep in version control, or import into the next client's store in minutes. Today, every migration we deliver already ships with that same exported config, built by hand.
Can I migrate from Shopify Scripts? +
Shopify Scripts shut down June 30, 2026. Most Scripts-era logic — payment gating, shipping filtering, order validation — maps directly onto Rulic rules. We also migrate it for you: we rebuild your legacy Scripts as native Shopify Functions, with full test coverage before cutover.
What if I need something the platform doesn't do yet? +
That's what our custom implementation work is for. We build the custom Functions, validation, and B2B workflows the platform doesn't cover yet — delivered back as reusable Rulic configurations, so the custom work becomes platform-native over time.
Can I test rules before deploying? +
That's what the interactive preview above shows — feed it any checkout context and see exactly which rules match and what the resulting checkout looks like. The full simulator ships with the self-serve platform, with a complete execution trace before anything goes to production. Every migration we deliver today is already tested against realistic cart sizes before deploy.
