Custom checkout logic, built and shipped by our engineers.

Not every checkout requirement fits a rule. When your logic goes beyond what configuration can express, our engineers design, build, test, and ship it as a native Shopify Function — end to end.

Where this goes wrong

The problem this service solves.

Custom checkout logic usually starts the same way: a requirement that sounds simple, until you try to build it.

Logic too complex for point-and-click checkout apps
Needs live data from external systems — ERP, PIM, custom metafields
Conditional logic spanning payment, shipping, and validation at once
Performance-critical code that has to run inside checkout’s tight budget

We architect it properly, build it as a native Shopify Function, and hand you back a reusable Rulic configuration — so it’s never a one-off again.

What's included

Everything this engagement delivers.

Requirements workshop

We map the exact behavior you need, including edge cases, before anything is built.

Function architecture

A design for the Shopify Function — inputs, data sources, and failure modes — reviewed before implementation.

Rust implementation

Production-grade Rust, compiled to WASM, built to Shopify’s checkout performance budget.

Simulator test coverage

Every branch of the logic run through Rulic’s simulator before it ever touches a live checkout.

Staged rollout

Development store first, then staging, then production — never a first deploy to a live store.

Docs + reusable config

A written spec and a portable Rulic config, so the same logic deploys to your next client in minutes.

How it works

From scope to shipped.

01ScopeA working session to pin down exactly what the logic needs to do, and where platform rules stop being enough.
02ArchitectureWe design the Function and confirm the approach with you before writing implementation code.
03Build & simulateImplementation happens against the simulator, so every condition is verified before deployment.
04Staged deployRolled out through dev → staging → production, with rollback in place at every step.
05HandoverYou get the deployed Function, full documentation, and a reusable config for the next store.
Who this is for

Built for agencies and merchants who've hit this wall.

For agencies

  • A client has a checkout requirement no app on the store can handle
  • You’ve already scoped ~30 hours of custom Rust for one client
  • You want the build to become reusable, not a one-off

For merchants

  • Complex B2B or wholesale logic specific to your business
  • Checkout rules tied to internal systems or custom data
  • A requirement your current app stack can’t cover

Questions about this service.

Do you write the Shopify Function yourselves? +
Yes. Our engineers design and implement the Function in Rust, compiled to WASM, and deploy it through Shopify’s checkout extensibility APIs.
What if requirements change mid-build? +
Scope is fixed upfront after the architecture step. Changes after that go through a short change process so cost and timeline stay predictable.
Do I own what gets built? +
Yes — you get the deployed Function and the exported Rulic configuration. Nothing is locked to us.
How is this different from configuring a rule in Rulic? +
Platform rules cover the vast majority of checkout logic without code. This service is for the remainder — logic that needs custom code, then gets wrapped as a reusable config afterward.

Have a checkout requirement platform rules can’t cover?

Tell us what you’re trying to build. We’ll tell you honestly whether it needs custom code — or just a rule.
